Once
upon a time, on the Terris-Thule server, there was a guild in Norrath called the Guards of the
Light. They were not a very big guild. Their leader was a ranger
named Bush. The officers of the guild were all people who had played
other games together before they came to EverQuest. Somewhere along the way they
picked up a little cleric by the name of Hypatia. She was just
starting to hunt in the Oasis of Marr and had not yet reached her 20th level.
A nice wizard by the name of Venturion came to invite her to the
guild. He stayed watching and helping her group for a long
time.
The guild seemed like a very nice place to be. People were very
helpful and knew a lot about Norrath. No question seemed too silly to ask
in guild chat and Hypatia asked a lot of questions. Sometimes the higher levels players would play their
alts and group with those who were much lower. It was a great way to meet
people and to learn new hunting areas and such. They always seemed
to go to a new place. The Lake of Ill Omen, the Warrens - scary
places that a little cleric had never seen before.
One day the guild chat was very quiet. There were only a few people
talking and something was mentioned that all the high level people had left
the guild. After a bit of a bewildering time, they found out it was true - without a word to the rest of the
guild members,
all the higher level players had left. They had joined a bigger
guild filled with high level players.
The folks left behind were confused. Some were angry or hurt and removed the guild's name right
away, but a few wanted to know why people would leave their guild.
They talked and got to know each other better than they had before.
Then one day a lot of the people who had left said that they were very
sorry for leaving and that they wished to return.
A meeting was called in the Lake of Ill Omen of some of the high level folks who
had left and a few of the ones who stayed behind. Explanations were
laid out for those who wished to hear them. Apologies were made and
accepted and out of this meeting came the decision made to start a new
guild out of what was left of the GotL.
A few days later, the group gathered again on the hill by the windmill.
Much thought had been given to a new name, and to who would lead the guild and
be the first officers. Because of the troubles in the past, it was
decided that two leaders might be better than one and Krowe and Venturion
were chosen to serve as co-Guild Leaders. Those who stayed behind were asked
to become officers as well. The little cleric, Hypatia, was one of them.
The name Enigmatic Council was chosen for the "new" guild.
Enigmatic, representing a sense of mystery and Council for the network of people
within the guild.
